Melissa

Sunddas - Lancome Make-Up Artist Simon!!
Thanks to my amazing friend Simon (Lancome make-up artist) who created this gorgeous geisha make-up for our model Janet. He has had many years experience in make-up for fashion photography, and has produced a thoroughly modern and extremely high-fashion couture geisha look which worked perfectly for our editorial shoot!

Backstage - getting make-up done:
We asked for cupid bow 'heart' shaped lips and pale skin and this is what Simon created! He really played up the blusher which worked really well in our images.
Sunddas - Dr Geisha!!! My favourite images!!
The shoot went amazing, and Janet looked gorgeous!! The make-up, hair and styling turned out great and I believe we created quite an edgy alomost high-fashion couture editorial that would work in Vogue, LOVE and Dazed & Confused magazine.

Sunddas - Powerpoint
Hey guys iv'e nearly finished the powerpoint, so tomorrow all we need to do is add our final images and music. I've sent it to Alicia now who is going to do the devolopment and styling slides xx
Alicia_blue or green
Just thought id post my views on here as weve been talking about it alot. I think i prefer the green photos mainly because i think you can tell that the blue ones have been cut around I also feel the photos look more quirky and fun which i didnt think was what we were going for and is completly different to what we were going by on our first photoshoot. I think the green ones look alot more dramatic and I like the different shades and lighting in the background. Green also represents jealously and envy which i think is an emotion that fits well with the quote that we were looking at "We do not become geisha to pursue our own destiny we become geisha because we have no other choice". I know everyone else has voted for blue images, I can see why people prefer them and im hoping they are going to grow on me. Will speak to you all tommorow for our final meeting at 9.30 at the library.
Jo Kabeya
The blue background pictures are nice but I'm not too sure about the bottom one it looks abit weird
paige
spoke to melissa cant seem to think of another background colour that would work with the photos im happy with the pictures at the moment x
paige
on the phone to melissa as i write and we have both agreed on the same five , the blue background is wikid thinks it makes the pictures look so different and innovative, great job guys , glad we agree melissa see you girls tomorrow for the final . x
Melissa
I have just edited the five images i liked the most from today.. I have change the background from green to blue on photoshop as i though blue fit in with the film better due to the whole precepection of water being this powerful thing. I hope you like them.
I created these images by cutting out the model and editing the variations to change the background colour, i then pasted the model back into the photo and changed the levels and curves. I also used the burn tool to darken her eyelashes and eyebrows and i used the dodge tool to lighten the circles that where under her eyes. I then used the sharpen tool to make the eyes and the lips stand out more.

I think these images work as even though originally we were going for the dark edgy look we have still sort of got that idea in terms of the styling and the chains. I also think the blue is a good contrast against the darkness of the geisha life (a life they dont choose). It also represents the water idea.
Alicia and Melissa
At the studio, Sunddas is on her way with the model who has already had here makeup done. Everyone is here except Imogen who is unable to come due to work and Natalie said she is going to try and come later.
Alicia- photoshoot take 2
Mellisa has organised another photographer as Dave was unable to help this afternoon but has kindly agreed to set up the lighting in the studio for us. I am going to pick the studio keys up at twelve and we have it until five. Sunddas has got us a model and know a make up artist that she is taking the model to first and then bringing her to the studio at around one. I am bringing the old dresses along with me as well as the old ones just incase we want to reshoot them.
Melissa
Good news guys. Myself and Alicia have sorted the studio and the photographer for the shoot today! X
Sunddas - Photographer Research
Here is my research of photographers and their work I like:
Photographer: Terry Richardson http://www.terryrichardson.com/
He works regularly with vogue. Below is a photoshoot he did for French Vogue November 2010
Photographer: Tim Walker http://www.timwalkerphotography.com/
Here is an image he did for Vogue editiorial:
I love these black and white shots by Helmut Newton. I like how black and white can be just as intriguing as a colour photo yet adds mystique.
Photographer: Mario Testino http://www.mariotestino.com/

I love this image and how he likes to shoot women and animals - which juxtapose each other yet he manages to draw contrasts. I also like how in the photo above she has geisha-influenced makeover, with more of a focus on flushed rosy cheeks.
I love this image

I love how this image gives me connotations of women being powerful and dominant, yet still with an extremely modern take on the 'powersuit' workwear. This would also work for our photoshoot to portray geisha as being powerful and dominant.

Melissa
Hey girls, so here's the plan (hopefully). On Monday Sundas has arranged for both a model and makeup artist to come after 12, so I've emailed Dave to see if we can have both his assistance and the studio. Also for the outfits Alicia has unpinned the black dress so we have 1 outfit there and hopefully Sunddas' model will still have the black dress she is wearing in the photo because I think it could fit our theme... Obviously I know the pictures are going to look different to our previous ones so we are also going to bring along the gold dress we used on Tuesday to take some of the model in that because obviously we need consistency with the images...

In terms of editing the image i think we need all of the images to fit in terms of the shoot.. so i think it should be one thing which connects all the images, whether they are all black and white/green background/same pose ect, rather than all having massive variations.. We will be able to know more once we do another shoot on monday. I know it is cutting it fine but we have all the research we need + we know what we want to do with the power point so its literally a case of trying to sort some more images, once we have them then thats when we should edit them i think..... Im trying to book monday night of work then we have longer to finish everything.x
Sunddas - The model!!
Hey, good news! I've got my friend Janet to model for us on Monday after 12 and she is gorgeous. Here she is:

Alicia-head shots
Hey heres one of my photos, i thought if we were going to do some more head shots we could do something similar with the hair blowing showing earings ? but have a black back drop so it looked similiar to our other photographs.
